These altered book pieces arrived back today...not having seen them for 12 months I wanted to spend some time with them before they are packed away...possibly to be altered again at some later date...they share a similar space to the last series of etchings of  figures immersed in language...sp

I am still uncertain as to where this series of etchings fits into things...numbered figures...walking, falling... swimming...(perhaps drowning)...fragmented shapes of language hovering like clouds...walls of language...on horizon lines...within margins...on edges...the relentless bond between language and meaning..sp.

The 'aboutness' of this new series is something of a continuum of the large series of artists' books included in Mytho-Poetic...I intended to include similar diaristic text but the simple referencing of tonal variations of ruled lines seemed to say enough...the figures are taken from illustrated books collected at the second hand book fair...without the text (language) figures suddenly seem vulnerable...detached...reflective...sp

 New editions of etchings from two weeks of printing at Djumbunji Press in Cairns. I hope to make a series of books from the collection of 40 images...I have had little time to reflect on their 'aboutness'...sp
